Use the 2D-plot window Set > Plot Range > Minimum/maximum command or press Ctrl+R to examine and/or set the plot range parameters.  The dialog box displays the current horizontal and vertical minimum and maximum values of the plot range, as well as the number of grid intervals in both directions.  You have the opportunity to enter new plot range parameters.  The number of grid intervals should be a positive integer.

Alternatively, click on the icon on the command toolbar to specify the plot range with the mouse by means of a range box.  The mouse pointer will change into a large cross.  Move the mouse cross to the desired upper left corner of the plot range, then hold down the left mouse button and move the mouse cross to the desired lower right corner of the plot range and release the mouse button.  The new plot range parameters will be displayed in the dialog box for you to accept or edit.

After you enter new plot range parameters, press OK to accept the new values.  The plot window will be redrawn and all expressions replotted.  Press Reset to restore the default plot range parameters (i.e. -4 for the minimums, 4 for the maximums, and 8 for the intervals).  Press Cancel to cancel the command and make no changes to the plot range.

You can also change the plot range parameters using the zoom commands on the plot windows command toolbar or by the function keys (see the Set > Plot Range > Length/center command1LDQ_MT for details).

The horizontal scale of the plot region is the number of units between tick marks on the horizontal axis.  The horizontal scale equals the horizontal length of the plot region divided by the number of grid intervals in the horizontal direction.  Thus, to change the horizontal scale to a particular value, you can use the Set > Plot Range > Minimum/maximum command to set the horizontal plot length (i.e. the difference between the horizontal maximum and minimum values) equal to the desired scale times the desired number of grid intervals.  For example, to have a scale of 5 units per tick mark with 12 grid intervals, set the minimum value to -30, the maximum value to 30, and the number of intervals to 12.  Similar remarks apply to setting the vertical scale using the Set > Plot Range > Minimum/ maximum command.

Note that the center coordinates and scales of the plot region are continuously displayed on the 2D-plot windows status bar.
